Carcasses of all kinds

Video and sound piece
"Des carcasses de tout" is a raw recording—a conversation captured before it was too late. In it, my late mother, then ill, recounts our first return to Bosnia-Herzegovina, one year after the war had ended. Yet this piece is less about war than it is about fragility, memory, scars, and farewells.
Voices and language become sculptural material—cut, assembled, and interwoven with other sonic elements: recordings from the oncology department at Argenteuil hospital, the friction of her clothing, hammering, the slicing of glass and metal in my studio, the rhythmic clatter of an industrial printer, and fragments of song.
Each summer, my mother would gather lavender from her garden, tucking sprigs into worn stockings. After her passing, I found them while sorting her clothes and collected them all into a single bag. The video is a dive into that bag.
